NRC Next MagazineAutobahn was asked by NRC Next to provide several articles with 'typographic illustrations or illustrative typography'. This assignment has resulted in vector illustrations, photographic solutions and a silver European Design Award, category 'Book & Editorial Illustration', in 2009. 'Bang voor de knal' ('Afraid of the Bang') is an article about a woman who, after having an accident with a child, has turned too scared to drive a car again. Nowadays, nobody is completely free anymore. We all take our work to our homes or on holiday and don't seem to be able to relax at all. The article 'Vrij van stand-by' ('Free of Stand-by') is in search of the possibilities of pressing the shut-down button. 'Ja, schat...' ('Yes, Honey...') gives insight to manipulation in relationships, plus tips and tricks. 'Het gras van de buren...' ('The Neighbour's Grass...') is about mankind's envy and how our grudge towards happiness of others will eventually tear ourselves down.
