Von A nach ZThe typographic experiment Von A nach Z was created during a car trip to Dortmund, Germany, 33pt. Eskapade – Contributions to Typography, a symposium organised by the students of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Dortmund. Autobahn was invited to give a presentation and share its ideas on typography with the audience. (Because Google maps is not able to present more than 25 destinations, the lettering stops at 'Y') Concept of the trip: no project to present at the start of the journey and have the project completed at the end of the trip. • Start of the nightly trip: 23.00 hrs; Concordiastraat, Utrecht [A] • Arrival: 05.00 hrs; Fachhochschule, Dortmund [Z] • Car: Nissan Sunny, 4 persons (1 of the seats only for 1/5th available, because of the camera) • 1 person with driver licence • Distance: 206 km, 26 stops (A, B, C, enz) • Material: 1 videocamera, 26 plastic bags with a cutout of each letter, tape Every 8 kilometers, the 'A' was replaced by the 'B', then the q'B' by the 'C' etc. At the 'Z', destination Dortmund was reached. In order to replace the letters safely, the autobahn was avoided...
